Walk, walk, fashion, baby.

It's gonna be my birthday soon. This is how birthdays make me feel:


Yesterday I was standing about six feet from an entire herd of elk and their babies! I cursed my lack of camera. They were so cute.

I don't know exactly what these fellas were trying to get, but they'd go down one at a time and grab something then go back up, then hide in the bushes a few seconds, then come back out and repeat.




This little fella saw me and stopped dead in his tracks. He probably figured he could blend in and I'd walk by. Instead I took the opportunity to immortalize him in my camera.

It's hard for a day to go by when you don't run across deer and elk up here. They're so adorable! It's been raining off and on all day, it's so nice. I've postponed my hiking though due to it. It was hailing pretty hard earlier.

These are from the south rim which is like an 8 minute walk from the house at which I'm stationed. It's super cool to be able to just walk over after work. I've been trying to ride my bike a lot up here, get better at hills. More on my flickr, and I have some more pictures I plan to post of the wildlife here. :D I've quit my last year's 365, I lost too many photos. So, instead I'm just gonna make Fridays, from now on, big photo dump days. There are a ton of pics I've been hoarding. Hope you have a great weekend! I'm still planning on taking some hikes up here. It's surprisingly cold today; a few days ago we had a heat wave. What is this?!

Woo, stealing wifi! Wanted to show I wasn't dead. I will hopefully be taking a hike this weekend and taking lots of pictures. I keep forgetting my camera! I've already been to the rim a few times now. It's gorgeous up here. My days are going by far too quickly. Been working on my goal of reading the dictionary. Pretty fun, actually. There are so many cool words! Only doing it in batches, and I'm jumping around quite a bit. Not very methodical... Trying to incorporate them into my every day vocabulary. It gets dreary just pulling from the same pool over and over. Plus words are a blast!

How can I explain the deep, down driving?

I figured I could squeeze in a SAS post before my internet is shut off tomorrow. :D There are still so many things around the house that need to be done before I leave on Tuesday. It's still snowing here, would you believe? What is this nonsense? Where is my lovely temperate summer I was so hoping for?

How are these months passing by so quickly?! I feel like it was just April and it'll be June soon. Jeez. Anywho, I'll be in the Grand Canyon working with the park service for about three months. I'm so excited. It was snowing the day I went up for my interview on the 11th. It's May! Such strange weather up here. Unfortunately I won't have internet access while up there, so posts will resume when I get back at the end of August. There will be an abundance of photos taken.

The shop, too, will be on vacation until I get back. I'll be updating with quite a few new items then, too, so stay tuned!
